Year 6 enjoyed an amazing morning as part of the PIE (Primary Inspiration through Enterprise) project.   This is one of the largest simultaneous STEM and Enterprise based activities taking place across a number of primary and middle schools.  Firstly, boys spent time reflecting on what enterprise is and then took part in a number of hands on activities to develop their repertoire of enterprise skills including building and flying model gliders and playing a very challenging coding game.

We were delighted to be joined by Professor Roy Sandbach who took time out of his busy schedule to join us for the morning and talk to the boys about enterprise and its importance locally and nationally.  Boys were fascinated to hear that Professor Sandbach had been to 10 Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament earlier in the week as part of his wider work in promoting the North East on the national stage.  On meeting the boys, he said “I have to say that I was very impressed by the enthusiasm of the boys and their interest in some of the enterprise stories that I recounted.”

Boys believe that they posted some competitive scores in the challenges and are hopeful of some success there.  Well done Year 6.
