GOLDEN RULES
The Golden Rules are described and referred to during each school day. They are displayed in the school, and all members of the school community are expected to follow them. These rules were discussed and agreed by the boys in Years,3,4 and 5.
Rules:
- respect adults and each other
- be polite
- bewell behaved
- be happy and kind to everyone
- share your games
- say sorry
- listen carefully
- do as you are asked the firs time
- always do your best
- always go the extra mile
Excellence in behaviour is celebrated by awards: both individually, and on a group basis. Good behaviour and manners are recognised throughout the school day. During weekly assemblies, awards are given for good conduct and good work.
CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PUPILS, STAFF AND PARENTS – KS2
In joining the School, a teacher or parent becomes part of our school community. Each member of the school has a role to play within it, and responsibilities towards others and their property.
On arrival and departure we:
- keep off the play equipment
- walk quietly with an adult, until safely in the car
- keep brothers and sisters close by, making sure they also follow our rules.
In School we:
- walk at all times and keep to the wall side of the stairs going up and use the handrail coming down
- hold doors open for others and walk through individually
- keep corridors clean and tidy by picking up after ourselves, and if necessary, others
- walk quietly into the hall at the beginning and end of assembly
- file in and out of the hall quietly
- help make, and look after displays of work, and objects of interest
- knock before entering a room, and close the door behind us
- are courteous to visitors in school by saying “good morning”, “good afternoon”, “excuse me” etc.
At lunch time we:
- wait quietly indoors until an adult is on duty
- share toys and games with others, and use them appropriately
- treat others with respect at alltimes, and never use our hands, feet or words in anger
- tell an adult on duty if someone is unkind or hurtful to us, or someone else.
- stop when the whistle blows
- line up quietly and carefully

have good table manners, and use a knife and fork.
In all lessons we:
- obey the rules of the room
- tidy up after lessons by putting away books and equipment
- show respect to others working, by moving carefully and quietly around the room
- help give out books and equipment, milk and fruit
- Do not interrupt, but wait until a teacher or child is free.
All members of the school community are expected to respect the Code of Conduct and children will be rewarded for doing so, as described above. In addition each teacher will devise rules for their classroom which are explained to the class and all children are expected to abide by theserules. Aggressive physical contact is not tolerated either ar play or as a punishment.
SANCTIONS
These depend on the age of the child.
At playtime, a child may:
- be removed from an activity and encouraged to play elsewhere
- have to stand at the side for a few minutes either on their own or with a member of staff
- have to walk round with a member of staff
- receive a verbal warning with notification of the consequences should they not heed the warning
- be sent to their class teacher
- be sent to the Head of Junior School
- miss subsequent play periods
At lunchtime, a child may:
- receive a verbal warning with notification of the consequences should they not heed the warning
- be moved from their usual place
- be asked to tidy up if a mess has been unnecessarily created
- Be last out to play
- be removed from their place
- have to stand / sit at the side for a period of time, for ‘time out’
- miss playtime to finish work
- be barred from using equipment or doing activitie.

Children are generally not made to stand outside a classroom.
Parents will be involved at the discretion of the Head of the Junior School and the class teacher.
Major incidents are recorded in the incident book and discussions with parents are documented and kept in the child's file in the office.
