School Leadership

Mr Hallam – School Head

Mr Graeme Hallam leads The Newcastle School with a clear vision for excellence across all areas of school life. He is responsible for the overall strategic and educational direction of the School, ensuring that pupils from every stage of their education are supported, challenged and inspired to achieve their full potential.

Working closely with staff, pupils, parents and Governors, Mr Hallam fosters a culture where academic achievement, character development and wellbeing are equally valued.

Senior Leadership Team

Mr Hallam is supported by an experienced and dedicated leadership team:

Mr Newman – Head of Seniors
Mr Newman leads the Senior School, overseeing academic standards, pupil progress and the wider educational experience. He plays a key role in ensuring pupils are equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to thrive both in school and beyond.

Ms Innes – Head of Sixth Form & Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
Ms Innes leads our Sixth Form, supporting students as they prepare for university, apprenticeships and future careers. As the School's Designated Safeguarding Lead, she also ensures that safeguarding remains at the heart of everything we do, promoting a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for all pupils.

Mrs Dowson - Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Our Chief Operating Officer oversees the operational and financial functions of the School, ensuring the effective management of resources, facilities and services that support the delivery of an exceptional educational experience.

Mrs Kingsland - Director of Marketing & Admissions
The Director of Marketing & Admissions leads pupil recruitment, communications and community engagement, helping families understand what makes The Newcastle School unique and ensuring a positive experience throughout the admissions journey.

Together, the leadership team works collaboratively to deliver the School's vision while maintaining the highest standards of education, pastoral care and operational excellence.

Governance

The Newcastle School benefits from the guidance and expertise of a highly experienced Board of Governors who provide strategic oversight and support to the School's leadership team.

Governors are responsible for ensuring the School remains financially sustainable, educationally ambitious and aligned with its vision and values. While the day-to-day running of the School is delegated to the School Head and Senior Leadership Team, Governors provide constructive challenge, accountability and long-term strategic direction.

Our Governors bring a wealth of professional knowledge and experience from a diverse range of sectors, including:
